Frequently Asked Questions about Medieval Costumes
What medieval costume should I wear to Arde Lucus?
For Arde Lucus, the most authentic costumes are those of Romans (legionaries, patricians, vestals) and Celtic-Galaicians (warriors, druids, villagers), as the festival recreates Roman Lugo and the Castro culture peoples. Generic medieval costumes (knight, peasant, wizard) also work if you want a more versatile look. The important thing is that it is made with natural fabrics (linen, wool, leather) and earthy tones to look real, not like a "carnival" costume.
Do you have medieval costumes for children?
Yes. We have children's medieval costumes from 3 years old up to size 14, in versions of knight, princess, warrior, wizard, peasant girl, and jester. They are ideal for the whole family to go together to Arde Lucus, medieval fairs, or historical school parties. Safe materials with comfortable closures for active children.
Are medieval swords and weapons safe and legal?
All the decorative swords, axes, and weapons we sell are non-functional decorative replicas with blunt tips and edges, made of hardened plastic or soft alloys. They comply with toy and prop regulations. They are legal to carry to medieval fairs and events. If you need something more realistic for professional theater, please contact us.
What is the difference between your medieval costume and one from a bazaar?
Three things: fabrics (we use linen, wool, velvet, and leather, not plastic or shiny polyester), pattern making (capes with real drape, dresses with adjustable bodices), and durability (ours last for decades if cared for, industrial ones for 1-2 uses). Enduring 3 days of Arde Lucus in the sun and rain with an industrial costume is very difficult; with a handmade one, it's normal.
Do you dress medieval weddings or private events?
Yes. We have dressed over 100 weddings with medieval, Celtic, or period themes in Galicia. For grooms, godparents, and guests, we have options from knights and queens to villagers and jesters. We recommend contacting us at least 2 months in advance to calmly review sizing. We also offer rentals in some cases — call us at 981 58 19 77 for a custom quote.
